PRECIOUS – A1062411
Gone - 1-13-2016 Manhattan
**GONE 01/13/16** Brought to the shelter in a bag, PRECIOUS is a spayed 12-month-old kitten whose former owner basically threw her under the bus. That person treated Precious like crap when she was being surrendered and probably treated her like crap for the rest of the time Precious was in that person’s “care.” Cats are intuitive, intelligent, sensitive animals who respond to the people around them, so poor Precious is only mirroring back the treatment she has received from her former owner, and now, from the ACC staff. Please work hard to find a FOSTER or ADOPTER who is willing to step up for PRECIOUS tonight, or her worst fears about humanity will come to fruition tomorrow…..

01/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/07/16 11:20 I called the owner and she just kept repeating that this cat is no good. I asked for specifics. She kept saying the cat destroys everything in the home. She ended the call. Behavior during intake: The owner brought this cat to MACC in a bag. The front desk gave the owner a cardboard carrier to hold the cat. When I opened the carrier to scan the cat for a microchip its ears were back, almost flat on its head. I opened the carrier and the cat began to hiss. I prepared a feral den with the door open. I tilted the box in the direction of the carrier. The cat ran into the den. I slipped a bowl of food into the den. At this point the cat growled and snapped. She threw the food all over the inside of the den. Please use caution with this cat. Jeremy Beyer

01/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Precious’s previous owner did not provide any information regarding her behavior or tendencies in her previous home. They only said she destroys everything in the home, and did not give us any additional details on the context of the specific behaviors that were demonstrated. Precious displayed fearful behavior upon intake and became fractious with limited handling. Reaction to assessor: Precious was inside a hidey den upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Precious becomes stiff and alert, but looks at the assessor through the opening of the den. Reaction to cage door opening: Precious remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Precious remained in place as the assessor shifted the den to get a good view of Precious. She seemed extremely wary of her surroundings, but sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows gentle petting. She shifts away slightly after a few strokes, focuses on the assessor’s hand, and lip licks. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Precious tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
