Basic information:
Poochie is a 14 year old domestic short hair. She was found as a stray when she was a kitten. She was surrendered because her previous owner is sick and unable to care for her. The last time she went to the vet was 2 years ago but she has never had any medical concerns.
Socialization:
Around strangers Poochie is said to be aggressive. She growls and circles them if they are near her owner but if not she ignores them. She lived and spent time with children ages 11 and 2 years old. Around them she was aggressive and would growl, hiss and scratch ankles.
Behavior:
Poochie has bitten and scratched a person in the past but has not in the past 10 days. In car rides she is relaxed. She enjoyed having her coat brushed but only allowed her owner to do this. She bites and growls if picked up or placed in a carrier.
For a New Family to Know:
Poochie is described as affectionate, toward her previous owner, assertive, independent and quiet with a medium activity level. When her previous owner was home she would tend to follow him around. She shows no interest in toys and was kept indoors only. At night she slept in a cat bed. She ate both wet and dry Friskies. She is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box and clumping litter.
Behavior during intake:
Poochie was growling, swatting and hissing during intake.
