I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 12/19/2015 from NY 10453, owner surrender reason stated was HOARDING. I came in with Group/Litter #K15-042972.

12/19/15 16:33 Basic Information Poncho was brought in as owner surrender due to owner hoarding too many cats. Owner has Poncho since he was bred in home. Owner says he does not have any injuries or health concerns, and when asked what she likes most about him owner chose how cuddly and playful he is. Personality & behavior Poncho is described as playful and affectionate with a medium activity level. He lived with an eight year old, and owner says he was very affectionate towards him. With the other cats he lived with owner says they were very loving and playful with each other. The cats are said to be litter-box trained, and never have accidents, and was kept indoors only. According to owner there have been no past issues of Poncho biting anyone or another animal. Owner says Poncho enjoys being brushed, and love to be picked up and held by owner. Poncho is said to be unbothered with being placed in a carrier. For a New Family to Know Poncho was used to using the clay form of litter with a hooded litter-box. Poncho enjoys toy balls and chasing toys. When home the cats are usually retired to one of their favorite spots. Poncho is said to be relaxed during car ride, and was fed both wet and dry food on schedule. Behavior during Intake Poncho was afraid during intake. He had dilated pupils, and attempted to hide in client’s carrier. Despite being afraid Poncho allowed all handling, and showed no signs of aggression during intake.

Poncho’s previous owner states that he has lived with an 8 year old child and was very affectionate towards him. He was very loving and playful with the other cats he lived with. He was kept indoors only and enjoys being brushed, and love to be picked up and held by owner. He was described as playful and affectionate with a medium activity level. The owner’s favorite things about him were how cuddly and playful he is. Reaction to assessor: Poncho was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Poncho looks at the assessor and blinks. Reaction to cage door opening: Poncho remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Poncho remains in place for petting, leans into petting, and rolls over to show his belly. He begins to purr and is very sweet throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Poncho remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Poncho interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
