*** SAFE 11/22/17 *** PLAY is a 5 month old kitten who has a URI and needs a home where he can get some TLC and recuperate. This cutie pie would love to be your new best friend!

BROOKLYN CENTER

Hello, my name is Play . My animal id is #12814. I am a male orange tabby kitten at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 5 months 2 weeks old. – P

I came into the shelter as a stray on 16-Nov-2017.

Play is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats.

[Spay/Neuter Waiver – Upper Respiratory Illness] Your newly adopted animal is in treatment for an upper respiratory illness. The veterinarian is temporarily waiving this animal from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY until such time as the illness has resolved and the pet has sufficiently recovered. At that time, this animal must come into compliance with the spay/neuter requirements.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~5-6months Microchip noted on Intake? no History : stray Subjective: Observed Behavior – BARH. Allows all handling. Calm for exam Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = WNL R = WNL BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, mild mucoid nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: teeth clean, erupting appropriately, pink mm, no oral ulcers PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, flea dirt CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities AssessmentL URI, flea dirt Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC. Rec doxycycline 0.6ml PO q24 x 10 days. First dose given Prognosis: Excellent SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to URI

Basic Information:: Play was found as a stray and brought into ACC with sibling Kidd.

How is this cat around children?: Unknown

How is this cat around other cats?: Is calm around other cats.

How is this cat around dogs?: Unknown

Behavior Notes: N/A

Bite history:: Play did not attempt to bite/scratch finder.

Medical Notes: N/A

KNOWN HISTORY:: Play was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. He was found with another cat and appeared calm around this cat. His finder reports he is shy around strangers, but will warm up after some time. During intake, he attempted to flee.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – Allows all handling. Calm for exam

Cage Condition:: Cage is slightly re-arranged

Reaction to assessor:: Play was resting by the front.

Reaction when softly spoken to:: Play looks at the assessor and slowly shifts his body backwards. He lies back down and curls up, blinking softly.

Reaction to cage door opening:: Play becomes alert, but remains calm.

Reaction to touch:: Play was hesitant of touch, but sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows petting on his head and body. He leans in slightly and blinks softly.

Reaction to being picked up:: Play remains calm, but leaps back into the kennel after.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate

VOCAL:: Quiet

CHARACTER TYPE: : Shy ,Sweet,Curious

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: None

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Average

Behavior Asilomar: H – Healthy

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Play interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
