KNOWN HISTORY: Pineapple was brought in without information on his behavior in his previous home. He lived in a home with lots of other cats and allowed handling during intake. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – friendly EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Clean, sharing portal with another cat. Reaction to assessor: Pineapple appeared unsure, crouches down, eyes wide. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pineapple looks at assessor, no reaction. Reaction to cage door opening: Pineapple retreats to other side of kennel. Reaction to touch: He appeared unsure and moves away initially to avoid touch, but he allows petting. Reaction to being picked up: Allows this type of handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Independent BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Please note that Pineapple is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Pineapple tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
