12/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pickle was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He did not allow handling upon intake, trying to avoid contact when inside his den. The medical team reports he was tense and scared during his initial medical exam, allowing limited handling and displaying mild distance-increasing behaviors. Reaction to assessor: Pickle was squeezed by the back corner, stiff and alert. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pickle looks around, but his eyes soften afterwards and he blinks. Reaction to cage door opening: Pickle becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Pickle focuses on the assessor’s hand, but remains immobile and flinches when touched. He is wide-eyed during the interaction, but tolerates gentle petting on his head and body. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Pickle tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
