***SAFE 10/21/17*** FELV+ PHOENIX IS AFFECTIONATE AND SOCIAL AND WANTS TO LIVE!! Poor Phoenix is a 5 yr old boy who was brought in with a URI and conjunctivitis. He also has an ulcer on his tongue which hinders his eating although he has a voracious appetite. Phoenix is also positive for FELV and needs a home with no other kitties or others with FELV also. Please help this sweet boy who meows for attention and petting. MUST RESERVE PHOENIX BY NOON!!

I came into the shelter as a stray on 15-Oct-2017.
Phoenix is being placed at risk due to medical conditions, URI and FELV.
Phoenix 9827 is at risk for her an upper respiratory infection (URI) and her medical condition, including FIV, conjunctivitis, and gingivitis. Behaviorally, Phoenix has been social and affectionate in the care center and is suitable for a first-time adopter.

QAR scan negative male intact appx 5 yrs old mod tartar, drooling MPOD, MPND; poss URI and conjunctivitis ulceration on tongue, poss calci virus infection FeLV positive eyes and nose cleaned dirty ears cleaned dirty coat mild dehydration good appetite, but difficulty in eating due to ulceration gave 100 cc SQF BCS 4/9 NOSF

Upon intake, Phoenix was curious of his surroundings and tried to escape from the cardboard carrier he was brought in. Phoenix allowed counselor to pick him up and place him into another carrier. Phoenix came out of his carrier right away when he smelled food and allowed picture to be taken.

Basic Information:: Phoenix is approximately a 3 years old unaltered black cat that came in as a stray. Phoenix was a community cat that was brought in because he has mucus around the eyes, nose, and mouth.
Medical Notes: Phoenix came into the center with mucus around the eyes, nose, and mouth and may possibly be suffering from a URI.
[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam FELV+ Estimated age:2-3 Microchip noted on Intake? n History : stray Subjective:active uri Observed Behavior -head butts, voracious appetite Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P =200 R =upper airway noise BCS 5/9 EENT: heavy ocular and nasal dc, purulent Oral Exam: ulcerative lesions at fauces, gums PLN: SMLN very enlarged H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: intact male 2 testes MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: felv, symptomatic. URI, conjunctivitis, gingivitis probably related to immune deficiency Prognosis:poor Plan:pallative care simbadol, onsior, doxy, terramycin SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to illness
Hx: URI, ulcerative lesions in mouth, FeLV. On Simbadol, Onsior, doxycycline, terramycin. Pt doing really well this morning!!! Good appetite this morning – ate all food. S: Head-butting, trying to get out of his kennel, allows all handling O: BAR-H, MMs pink EENT: Mucoid ocular and nasal discharge. Severe tartar including some resorptive lesions, especially on left mandibular PMs PLNs: Mandibular LNs are moderately enlarged and symmetrical H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted. Neuro: Alert and appropriate, no sign neurological deficiencies A: URI, FeLV – seems to have responded really well to the meds started yesterday Short-term prognosis: Good-fair P: Continue meds as scheduled, gave 100 ml SQ with 0.25 ml vit B12 following exam 1088
S/O BAR, very affectionate and docile, allows all handling great appetite serous nasal discharge OU: moderate conjunctivitis but appears to be improving mm pk, sl tacky; severe gingivitis; ulceration along upper lips/gums appears to be resolving eupnic, heart/lungs WNL soft abdomen A URI/conjunctivitis oral ulcers-resolving Felv P CWCT
