11/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Peridot was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Peridot was lying down on her blanket at the back of the kennel with her head lowered. Reaction when softly spoken to: Peridot lip licks, starts to stress meow and doesn’t come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Peridot remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Peridot rises up as the assessor approaches and looks around the kennel with wide eyes. She is hesitant of contact, lowers her body when touched, continues to stress meow and is more interested in leaving the kennel. Her body is tense, she keeps her tail lowered and she shifts away when she feels uncomfortable. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Peridot tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
