ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Sweet MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/18/17- Observed Behavior – allows handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/19/17 Curled up at back of cubby, seems lethargic. Not eating? Eyes dilated. Lay in place when door opened. Sniffed hand, started to lean into pets and purr. Social eater! Ate some tuna and one treat after a great deal of petting and coaxing. Stopped frequently when startled by noise or motion. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Peppermint remains crouched position at the back during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Peppermint remains immobile in place, head down, normal shape eyes, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Peppermint seems shy, but accepts the touch and slowly leans into the assessor’s hand while remaining anxious. Reaction to being picked up: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Peppermint tolerates attention and petting, but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
