***SAFE 09/18/16***TINY SWEET KITTEN WHO WAS HIT BY A CAR NEEDS YOUR HELP TONIGHT! SWEET PEPPER ANN is a 5 month old female kitten who was hit by a car and her left front leg needs some vet care. She has an excellent recovery prognosis if she receives care from a vet. She’s probably in some pain but that doesn’t stop her from seeking out some attention and showing some kitten love! Pepper Ann was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was relaxed and allowed all handing upon intake and during her initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Pepper Ann was resting upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pepper Ann wakes and comes to the front, purring. Reaction to cage door opening: Pepper Ann remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Pepper Ann head-butts, begins to purr, and rubs against the assessor. She was very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to pick up: Pepper Ann remains calm and continues to purr. Placement Determination: Beginner Pepper Ann interacts with the observer, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.

9/7/16 Check kitten hit by car Microchip scan neg. O: BARH. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. H/L: Lungs clear. HR>250 bpm. Abd: Palpation WNL. UG: Female. MS: Non weight bearing left front. Palpable swelling over humerus, painful. Integ: No open wounds visible A: Suspect fracture of left humerus. P: Buprenorphine 0.05 ml PO. Radiograph left front leg: Shows transverse fracture of humerus with some displacement. Rec placement. Continue pain control and monitor condition while at BACC. Give Buprenporphine 0.05 mg (0.1 ml) sq BID. Prognosis good to excellent with appropriate care.
