08/28/17 19:59 Basic Information Pepper is a male, White and black domestic shorthair cat that’s estimated to be 2 years old. He was brought in as a stray and has no known medical conditions. Behavior during intake Pepper had a very loose body and was head-butting when he was being taken out of the carrier he allowed me to collar him and pick him up. He purred when picked up and rubbed against my arm when giving him food and water.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Pepper was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/30/17- Observed Behavior: friendly, vocal, active, easily handled and examined ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/29/17- Dozing in top cubby, woke when spoken to. Sat up when door opened, soft eyes and body. Leaned into pets, closed eyes again. Ate treats after door closed. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Pepper remains neutral, lying down with head up on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pepper remains immobile, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Pepper remains in place with ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Pepper accepts the stroke and slowly leans into the assessor’s hand and appreciates the petting while observing his surroundings. Reaction to being picked up: He becomes antsy then jumps back onto the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Pepper interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
