*** SAFE 05/29/16 ***PURRFECT PENNY–PRETTY & HEALTHY TORTIE KITTEN NEEDS YOU! Meet eight month old, Penny a sad but sweet girl who was found in a yard, scooped up and dumped at the kill happy shelter in the midst of kitten season. Penny is (naturally) very scared at the shelter and quite timid. However, she is not at all aggressive. She needs a kind purrson to open up their heart and home in order to de-stress from her shelter experience. Can that special someone be you? Let us know if you can help purrfect Penny by offering to foster or adopt. Email our help desk and we will help you be Penny’s hero–[email protected] Penny is one of 27 precious lives at risk. Let’s do everything we can to help this sweet, healthy kitten tonight!!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Penny and at the time he was tense body. Penny lowers her body when kennel door opens. She looks around, wary of surroundings. Penny hisses loudly and allows no contact. Reaction to assessor: Penny was sleep at the back of the cage When spoken quietly: Penny continues to sleep without moving Reaction to door cage opening: Penny lifts her head up and seemed indifferent towards the assessor Reaction to touch: Penny was tense and becomes nervous. She also lowered her head when touched Try picking cat up: Did not attempt to pick her up due to Penny being tense and nervous Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Penny was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying nervous behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children.
