***SAFE 08/30/16 *** ENJOYS HAVING HIS NAILS TRIMMED!! PATCHES should be adopted just for that!! But it gets better!! PATCHES lived with kids from 2-15 and another cat….he isn’t crazy about dogs and avoids them…..The stingy ACC gave him an EXPNOCHILD rating because he didn’t like his back being touched by their plastic hand….PATCHES is clearly a family cat, sadly his family did not take him along. PLEASE BE A NEW FAMILY FOR PATCHES TONIGHT!! He is only 3 years old and deserves to be a “furrever” cat!!

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 08/23/2016 from NY 11375, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-071452.

08/23/16 20:47 Basic Information: Patches is a domestic short hair cat who surrendered due to his previous owner moving to a place where animals are not allowed. Socialization: Around strangers Patches is friendly and plays exuberantly with adults. Patches has been around children ages 2 to 15, around them Patches is relaxed and plays exuberantly. Patches has lived with one other cat who he was relaxed and affectionate with. Patches has been around dogs but tends to avoid them. Behavior: Patches has never bitten another person or animal and is relaxed when riding in a car. Patches enjoys having his nails trimmed and having his coat brushed. Patches enjoys being picked up/held, placed in a carrier, and does not mind being disturbed while resting. For a New Family to Know: Patches is described as friendly, affectionate, and confident with a medium activity level. When at home Patches will follow around his owner and doesn’t play with toys. Patches was fed both wet and dry food. Patches is litter box trained and uses clumping litter. Patches used a scratching post made of cardboard. Intake Behavior: Cats were not handled by staff due to arrival or transport.

As per previous owners, Patches is friendly with strangers and plays exuberantly with adults. He’s been around children ages 2 to 15 and was relaxed and playful with them. Patches lived with another cat was relaxed and affectionate with him. He’s been around dogs but tends to avoid them. His owners say he likes being picked up and they describe him as friendly, affectionate and confident with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Patches was relaxed and lying down on his blanket near the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Patches rolls over on his side and meows softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Patches remains calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Patches chirps, comes forward and brushes up against the assessor. He lightly head butts the assessor’s hand and leans in when given cheek rubs. When touched on his lower back he whips around quickly and grabs onto the assessors arm and bites down. He immediately retreats lip licks then comes forward soliciting attention. His body relaxes and he lightly head butts the assessor’s hand. Reaction to being picked up: Patches is a bit tense and struggles but doesn’t mind being held. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Patches solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. Due to him biting when touched on his lower back we feel that this cat will do best in a home without children.
