Basic Information:Patches is a 2 year old male Gray tabby DSH. Owner has had Patches for a year and a half and is surrendering because of shedding.

How is this cat around strangers?Around strangers Patches is friendly and outgoing. Patches plays gently with adults.
How is this cat around children?Patches has lived with children ages 3 months and older. Around the children Patches is playful and plays gently.
How is this cat around other cats?Patches has lived with another cat and was playful with them. Patches Patches exuberantly and would like to jump on the other cat. When the other cat starts to swat Patches would swat back but never scratched.
How is this cat around dogs?Patches has not lived with other dogs.
Behavior NotesPatches is afraid of getting bathes and will struggle to get out of the water scratching while climbing. Patches enjoys being brushed and being picked up and held. Patches has not had his nails trimmed by the previous owner.Patches isnt bothered when being placed in a carrier. During car rides Patches is relaxed.

Has this cat ever had any medical issues?YesMedical NotesPatches has not been to the vet in over a year. When Patches was a kitten he possibly had ringworm. Patches has no known medical conditions now.
For a New Family to KnowPatches was described as talkative, affectionate and playful. Patches liked to play with anything on the floor. When home with Patches he likes to follow you around the house. Patches is a mostly indoor cat and will go outside in the yard every other day for a hour but doesnt leave the yard. Patches is litter box trained an uses an covered litter box with fresh step litter. Patches east 2 cans of friskies wet food and friskies dry food. Patches has a scratching post made of rope and cardboard. Patches also likes to scratch on the fabric carpet. When its time for bed Patches likes to sleep on the couch.
Behavior Notes:During intake Patches was quiet. Patches allowed to be scanned and collared with no problem. Patches stayed laying down on the back drop. Patches allowed to be picked up and placed back in the kennel.

Hunched in back of kennel, body tense and tail curled around feet. Tolerates petting along head and body while leaning away from me and lowering body further, ears flattening. Needs more time to adjust.

Lying in back of kennel, body low and tense. Avoids eye contact and shifts away from my hand in an attempt to avoid touch. Steps forward and sniffs treats I place down but doesn’t eat them during our interaction – may be too focused on me and environment. Needs some time to adjust.

Lying down underneath his kuranda bed and slow blinks when I approach the kennel. Slowly turns his head away when I tried coaxing him forward. Leans away and seems hesitant of contact when I extended my hand out. He closes his eyes and wraps his tail around his body when pet. His body feels a bit tense and he slowly inches away when he’s done interacting. Needs more time to adjust.

Lying in front of kennel, body low and tense. He raises his head as the kennel door opens and makes eye contact, ears tilting and face tense. He tolerates petting along his head and shoulders briefly before tensing and whipping his head back, tail tucking between his legs. Nervous and unsure. He eats all his treats after I’ve closed the kennel door. Needs some time to adjust.

Patches was lying down underneath his kuranda bed and slow blinks when the assessor approaches the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Patches lip licks and slowly turns his head away when the assessor tries coaxing him forward.

Patches remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:
Patches leans away and seems hesitant of contact when the assessor extends his hand out. He closes his eyes and wraps his tail around his body when pet. His body feels a bit tense and he slowly inches away when he’s done interacting.
