Hello, my name is Patches. My animal id is #14987. I am a female calico cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 30-Nov-2017.
Patches is at risk for behavior concerns (Adult only determination).Patches has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and has displayed distance-increasing behavior with extended handling.Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

Active, nervous and will flee ORAL: adult dentition, no oral lesions EENT: Pink mm, eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge, ears wnl HL: NMA, RR, Lungs C&E ABD: SNP, NMP INTEG: GHC, no ectos noted MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: FI, no vulvar d/c, no MGTs NEURO: A&A A: Apparently healthy P: Continue to monitor while at BACC. OK for surgery tomorrow Excellent prognosis

Upon intake Patches was very timid she stress meowing in her carrier and her ears were flatten out to the side. When tried to hold her with bedding she struggled and tried to flee. She was placed in the carrier with a collar.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Patches was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Very tense, fled from carrier, no hissing
Cage Condition:: Cage is slightly re-arranged
Reaction to assessor:: Patches was tense and stress meowing at the front of the kennel. She slowly backs away and lowers her body when approached.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Patches lip licks and keeps her tail lowered.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Patches flinches and shifts away into her litter box.
Reaction to touch:: Patches eyes dart around the kennel as she looks for an exit and she flinches when touched on her head. Her body trembles but she tolerates brief petting before shifting away to the other side of the double kennel.

Potential challenges comments:: Patches has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling.
