Vet Notes: 2:26 PM
Progress exam
History : Intake 6/23-Brought in by NYPD with 13+ other cats. Started on doxycycline, fortiflora, and B12 for URI. Started on tresaderm for otitis. Concern that cat had seizures earlier in day – observed shaking in cage and urinated small amount, cat stopped shaking once approached and appeared mentally appropriate; later in day observed scratching ears and shaking head then falling over — R/O ear infection as cause of head shaking, less likely seizure disorder
Subjective: BAR. No csvd. Mild URI signs. Eating well. Normal BM and U in litter box.
Objective
EENT: Nuclear sclerosis ou with no ocular d/c, mild serous nasal d/c
H/L: Normal RR/RE, eupneic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
MSI: Ambulatory x 4
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment:
Geriatric
URI
Mass ~3cm firm irregular freely movable mass just caudal to left axillary region
Dental disease
Moderate otitis externa AU
Non-regenerative anemia
Leukocytosis-likely related to infection
Prognosis: Fair
Plan:
Continue doxycycline until 7/2
Continue fortiflora until 6/27
Last day of B12, ok to d/c
Continue tresaderm until 6/29-will likely need extension
Rec histopathology of mass
Will likely need dental in the future
Rec repeat CBC with placement +/- workup for anemia
CBC-non-regenerative anemia 22.9 (30.3-52.3), mild leukocytosis 18.15 (2.87-17.02) with neutrophilia 14.93 (1.48-10.29) and monocytosis 0.76 (0.05-0.67), low platelets likely due to clumping
Chem-mild hyperglobulinemia 5.4 (2.8-5.1)
T4-wnl (1.8)
