Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/31/17 Crouched at back under kuranda bed, eyes dilated, very tense. Became alert when door opened, whiskers forward, started lip licking. Briefly sniffed assess-a-hand, then retreated to other cage, body low. 8/1/17 Crouched on top of kuranda bed, eyes dilated, very tense. Panicked and fled to corner when door opened, faced away. Slowly sniffed assess-a-hand, then started trembling when touched. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Othello remains tense tucked limbs on top of the kuranda bed during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Othello remains body stiff with an intense gaze. Reaction to touch: Othello distance increases while attempting to pet, but briefly accepts then runs with tail low to the other side of the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Othello may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
