Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Orchid was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The medical team reports he allowed all handling and was overly affectionate during his initial medical exam, attempting to climb onto the handler. The enrichment team reports he woke as they opened his cage door and started to purr immediately. He leaned in for petting and started to knead in place. Reaction to assessor: Orchid was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Orchid stretches and approaches the front to sniff around. Reaction to cage door opening: Orchid remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Orchid was slightly hesitant initially, but he accepts petting and starts to knead and purr. He leans against the assessor’s hand gently afterwards for cheek rubs. Reaction to being picked up: Orchid remains calm and continues to purr when held. Behavior Determination: Average Orchid interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.
