10/31/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Olivia was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She allowed the counselor to lift her up and place her into a carrier during intake, but had a tense and firm body. She was receptive to petting as the counselor did so slowly. The medical team reported she was nervous during her initial medical exam, hissing and attempting to flee. Reaction to assessor: Olivia was leaning against the back wall and had a neutral body posture. Reaction when softly spoken to: Olivia shifts her body slightly and looks at the assessor with soft eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Olivia becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Olivia focuses on the assessor’s hand and flinches slightly when touched. She curls her body and lip licks and blinks during the interaction. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Olivia tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
