***SAFE 10/15/17*** SHY NOEL IS HOPING FOR A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT! NOEL came in with a large group of cats from a home with too many – his pals Lonnie and Marley are also listed tonight! NOEL is on the timid side and will need someone to help him come out of his shell. He is so handsome and already neutered. PLEASE GIVE NOEL A HOME BY RESERVING HIM BY NOON!

BROOKLYN CENTER

Hello, my name is Noel. My animal id is #7860. I am a desexed male black cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 2 years 2 weeks old. – P

I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.

Behavior Determination: Experience

New URI noted on rounds Subjective: QARH. Hiding in the back of the cage cowered down and dumpy. Not normal and playful. Congested and breathing with mouth slightly open Objective EENT: serous nasal d/c bilaterally, no ocular d/c ou H/L: Eupneic but congested Assessment: URI Plan: Start doxycycline 10mg/kg PO SID x10d Recheck at day 5, 10 Move to iso Prognosis: Good

Details on my behavior are…

KNOWN HISTORY: Noel was timid upon intake. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Skittish, will flee, but examined and handled with moderate restraint. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 09/27/17 Lying on top of kuranda bed, body tense and tail wrapped around body. He tolerates petting while leaning away from my hand and tilting his ears. Tries to find a way to escape – wants to flee and avoid touch. Needs more time to adjust. Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Noel was tense and crouched on top his kuranda bed with his tail wrapped around his body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Noel follows the assessor’s movements and becomes focused on the assessor’s movements. Reaction to cage door opening: Noel tenses up and his eyes dart around looking for an exit. Reaction to touch: Noel quickly backs away then frantically shifts around the kennel looking to escape. He pauses and becomes focused when touched, lip licks, tolerates petting then slowly shifts away with his tail tucked under his body. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Experience Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Noel may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
