05/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nelly was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Nelly is resting in the litter box with his body low and with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Nelly becomes alert and slowly sinks into the litter box trying to avoid contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Nelly remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Nelly hides his body and attempts to avoid contact. When close he quickly shifts away and attempts to flee the kennel. Nelly currently doesn’t allow any handling. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Nelly is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
