SAFE 8/28/18 – NATALIA and her six newborn kittens were found in a parking garage. They were brought to the shelter and need a foster home asap.

Age: 1 year

Sex: Female

DVM Intake Exam

Estimated age: 1-2 years based on dentition
Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned neg – MC placed

History : Found in a parking garage with 6 newborn kittens

Subjective: Alert, walks out of carrier when the door is opened.

Observed Behavior – Allows all handling but yowls when her kittens are touched

Evidence of Cruelty seen – None

Evidence of Trauma seen – None

Objective
BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 5/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Clean adult teeth
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Soft, non painful, not distended, no masses palpated
U/G: Female, no vulvar discharge, mammary glands are mildly engorged
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally

Assessment: Queen with 6 kittens – possibly not enough milk for all kittens, R/O malnourishment vs. other

Prognosis: Good with feeding

Plan: Feed kitten food ad lib

SURGERY:
Temporary waiver due to nursing litter

PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Soft, not distended, no masses palpated
U/G: Male neonate
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate for neonate
Rectal: Normal externally

Assessment: Apparently healthy neonatal kitten with queen

Prognosis: Good

Plan: Keep with queen until 8-12 weeks old

**** PLEASE NOTE **** KITTENS under the age of 8 weeks or weighing 2 pounds or less CAN ONLY be PULLED by a RESCUE!!!! IF INTERESTED, PLEASE contact a RESCUE ASAP!!!
