SAFE 7/13/17 Medium hair tortie, Nana needs some TLC @MACC. NANA was taken to the shelter when her owner was hospitalized. She is not happy and wondering why she is there. Please give this beautiful girl a new home.

Later, could not remove pt from kennel due to hissing, spitting and swatting – used Freeman net. Pt hissed, growled and swatted during limited net exam. Objective BCS 6/9, MMs pink and moist EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Moderate gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: Could not auscult due to behavior. Eupnic. Basic Info
Nana is a 3 year old DMH whose owner is sick and could not care for her any longer. Nana has not been brought to a vet before.
Socialization
Nana is calm and outgoing around strangers and rubs on them when they come in. She is around a 5 year old sometimes that she tends to avoid the child but is calm if the kid approaches her. She has never been around other cats before and is fearful of dogs. She has never bitten a person or animal before.
Behavior
Nana does not scratch on furniture and is well litter box trained. She does have a rug in the kitchen that she is allowed to scratch on. She struggles when getting her nails trimmed but allows restraint and is not bothered by being brushed, held or put into a carrier.
New Family
Nana has a high level of energy at home and likes to run around the house. She enjoys being around the owner and follows owner around the house. She is kept solely indoors. Nana sleeps on the floor or couch in the owners bedroom and is fed meow mix and fancy feast. She is fed wet food once a day and has access to dry food throughout the day. She sometimes likes to drink out of the sink. She has a hooded litter box with scoop away scented litter. In addition to her kitchen rug that she scratches on she has a horizontal cardboard scratch post that she uses.
Intake Behavior
Nana fled at the sound of loud noises but allowed counselor to pick her up and allowed all handling for collaring, scanning and photograph. She allowed counselor to hold her.
