03/05/17 17:50 Animal’s appearance – Nacho appears to be clean and of healthy weight. Animal’s demeanor with you – Nacho came in trapped, very nervous, and attempting to flee. Nacho was not handled due to Nacho growling, hissing, and swatting. Nacho was transferred directly from trap to den. Client is a frequent trapper. In her area there is construction underway and she lives in a community complex where feeding stray cats in not allowed. Due to these reasons, client traps the cats and brings them to SIACC.

Upon intake, Nacho was attempting to flee and could not be handled. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage appears untouched Reaction to assessor: Nacho is hiding in his den Reaction when softly spoken to: Nacho looks at assessor through den with wide eyes Reaction to cage door opening: Nacho hisses Reaction to touch: Nacho backs away to avoid being touched, ears flat, hissing, does not allow handling MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Did not allow handling, growling/hissing/attempting to bite. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Independent, Skittish RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Placement with a New Hope partner Behavior observations _x_ New Hope Only Nacho is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to scratch and bite, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
