Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mystic was brought to the shelter after reportedly biting his previous owner. No subsequent details about the bite have been provided, nor was any information about the cat’s behavior in his previous home obtained. Reaction to assessor: Mystic remained lying at the back of his cage, watching with wide, alert eyes, making direct eye contact without blinking. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mystic remained unmoving, continued to watch the observer with wide, alert eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Mystic’s body posture tensed but he remained motionless and continued to make direct eye contact with the assessor. Reaction to touch: Mystic recoiled from attempt to touch, hissed, growled, then lunged forward and snapped. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Mystic is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time
