She allowed counselor to pick her up and carry her. She also allowed counselor to trim her nails and place her in the carrier.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Sweet KNOWN HISTORY: Muggle was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. During intake, Muggle allowed all handling and being collared. When taken out of the carrier her eyes were dilated however once petted and comforted she became more relaxed. She allowed counselor to pick her up and carry her. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/10/17- Subjective: allowed handling, head butting in kennel, purring during exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 09/11/17 Under bed with towel draped over, peeking out from opening, curious. Meows and comes forward slightly when spoken to, but seems wary of surroundings. Head-butts lightly when pet, but focuses on movement around us. Wraps tail around body and retreats back under bed. Has potential to warm up. 09/13/17 Resting on kuranda bed, calm and relaxed. Chirps and meows when spoken to, then leans forward to sniff me. Leaps off bed to interact, tail quivering. Allows all petting, leans in for cheek rubs, and allows petting all over. Eats treats when offered. Doing well! 09/14/17 Chirps and meows when approached, looking around curiously. Quickly leaps off bed and comes to the front when door opens. Arches body and leans in for cheek rubs when pet, purring. Really sweet and loves tuna puree. Continues to have a relaxed body posture after interaction ends. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Muggle remains neutral, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Muggle engages the front, relaxed body posture, tail up. Reaction to cage door opening: Muggle meows attention, soft eyes, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Muggle leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs, then draws her attention towards sudden noises and remains in place. Reaction to being picked up: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Muggle interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
