SAFE 12/17/17 MUFFULETTA is a cute 1 yr old with a congenital deformity of his left front foot. He was abandoned in an apartment and someone brought him to the shelter. This kitty needs a furever home asap.

Oral Exam: Mild tartar and gingivitis on the PMs
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Tense, no masses palpated
U/G: Female, presumed intact
MSI: Congenital deformity on left front leg – metacarpals are separate and there are two main toes (2nd and 4th) with two smaller accessory toenails (1st and 3rd) hanging off the sides of the main toes. No pain, swelling or erythema on this foot or anywhere else. Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat.
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
Assessment:
1. Congenital deformity to LF foot
2. Mild tartar and gingivitis
Prognosis: Good
Plan:
1. Recommend regular tooth brushing
2. Recommend regular nail trimming, especially of the deformed foot

12/7/17
Curled up under kuranda bed, very tense, eyes dilated. Started to grumble on approach. Able to slowly lure to front with treats, then started eating wet food, still grumbling. Continued eating when door opened, tolerated a few pets, still grumbling, then backed away and hissed. Played vigorously when given toys, seemed to warm up. Sat at front on second visit, allowed and leaned into pets, only a little tense. Sprayed thunderease.
