I came into the shelter as a stray on 16-Dec-2017.

Mr. Gray is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

s/o: open mouth breathing in cage lungs are clear BAR few sneeze marks in cage a: uri p: doxycycline 10mg/kg sid x 10d
S: Recheck open mouth breathing/uri. BAR on presentation. No open mouth breathing noted. Started eating after exam performed (Canned food). O: BAR. Active, attention seeking EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge Oral: Clean dentition HL: NMA, NSR. mm = pink/moist. CRT < 2 sec. No obvious crackles or wheezes. PLN: wnl MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: MN A: 1. URI – under treatment 2. Open mouth breathing – resolved. Px: Good P: Continue to monitor while in BACC. Recheck URI on day 7 and 10 of treatment
S/O: QARH. Eating well when placed food in front of him EENT: Eyes clear, serous nasal discharge HL: Normal RR/RE, sounds congested INTEG: WNL MS: Ambulatory x 4 A: URI P: Adding nebulization q24 x 3 days. Excellent prognosis

KNOWN HISTORY:: Mr. Gray was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Allowed all handling
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/19/17 Sitting upright in back of kennel, body tense and eyes wide. He avoids eye contact when spoken to and turns his head slowly to watch as the cage door opens. He allows petting along his head and body, leaning in gently with a low body and tail. He turns his head and head-butts my hand gently, then retreats through his portal. He comes back towards me when called and explores his kennel, tail remaining low to the ground. Timid and focused on environment – needs some more time to adjust. Not interested in treats today. Has potential to warm up. 12/20/17 NPO 12/21/17 Lying in front of kennel with a relaxed body. He makes eye contact when spoken to and allows petting along his head and body while rolling over onto his side and purring. Allows all petting for duration of session. Very sweet, doing much better. Did great today! 12/24/17 Crouched in back of kennel, body neutral. He remains still and tolerates petting along his head and body while flattening his ears and pulling his whiskers back. Uncomfortable, tenser today. Needs some time to adjust. May be uncomfortable due to URI. 12/26/17 Crouched in back of kennel, tail wrapped around feet. Makes eye contact and tilts ears when spoken to. He tenses his body as I reach towards him with the bear-claw, whiskers pulling back, and tolerates petting along his head and body while lowering himself and turning his head slowly to watch the my hand. Ears are flattened. Needs more time to adjust. May be feeling uncomfortable due to URI.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Mr. Gray was curled up tight inside his litter box with his eyes focused on the assessor and tail wrapped around his body.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Mr. Gray’s ears rotate around and he lowers his head when the assessor tries coaxing him forward.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Mr. Gray remains tense in the litter box.
Reaction to touch:: Mr. Gray squints and shifts his body weight when the assessor extends his hand out. He seems unsure at first but slowly leans in when the assessor rubs him on his cheeks. His tail perks up, he arches his back and he accepts gentle petting along his body.
