Basic Information:
Moski is a 10 year old neutered male DSH that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Moski for 10 years but had to surrender due to personal problems.
Socialization:
According to the owner, around strangers Moski is shy and will hide. He has not been around children or other animals so behavior is unknown. Moski has scratched the owner in the last 10 days but did not break skin. Moski has never bit anyone while the owner has had him.
Behavior:
Moski is not bothered by being disturbed while sleeping. He is afraid of being given a bath, having his coat brushed or being put into a carrier. When someone tries to brush his coat, he will struggle to run away. Owner has never tried to trim Moski’s nails so behavior is unknown.
For a New Family to Know:
Moski is described as friendly, affectionate, mellow, shy around new people, and quiet. He has a low activity level would prefer to lounge around rather than play with toys. In the home, Moski liked to stay hidden in his favorite spot. He was kept indoors only & is partially litter box trained. Over the last few months, Moski has been defecating outside of the litter box but will urinate in the litter box daily. In the home, he used an uncovered litter box with pellet litter. Owner had a scratching post in the home made of carpet but stated that Moski would also like to scratch on furniture and wood around the home. Owner fed Moski wet food only but did not know the brand name.
Behavior during intake: Moski had a stiff body and was lip licking. When I put my hand out, he began to hiss and became more stiff. I was able to scan for a mc, and take a picture but was unable to collar due to behavior.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:
Moski’s previous owners report that he was eliminating defecating outside the litter box for the last few months. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:
_x_ Experience
Moski may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home.
He/she may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home.
We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
