11/20/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/20/16 13:11 Basic information Moretta is an approximate 2 year old spayed domestic short hair. Owner is surrendering her because of landlord restrictions. Owner adopted her from a friend one year ago. Owner stated Moretta has a skin rash. She took her to a vet 4 weeks ago and was told to trim it down and it would be fine. Socialization Moretta is shy around strangers. She has not lived or spent time with kids or dogs. She plays in a gentle manner with adults. She lived with her sister for 6 months or so and was playful and affectionate with her. She has never bitten a person or animal. Behavior Owner stated she misses the litter box when she pees. She was relaxed during the car ride to our shelter. Owner has never bathed Morretta or trimmed her nails. She does not like her coat brushed, she runs away. She struggles when being placed in a carrier. She is not bothered if picked up or if disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know Moretta is described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. She will follow her owner around when home. She likes to play with balls. She was kept indoors only and sleeps in owner’s bed. She was fed wet Nine Lives cat food and Meow Mix dry cat food. Owner left dry food out and fed her one can of wet food per day. She uses an uncovered cat litter box with clumping style litter in it. She scratched on furniture made out of fabric. Behavior during Intake Moretta tolerated handling. She remained still the whole time I took her out of the owner’s carrier. No signs of aggression were displayed.

11/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Moretta is shy around strangers and has never lived with kids or dogs. She plays gently with adults and lived with a 6 month old female cat and was playful and affectionate with her. The owner stated she misses the litter box when she pees, she doesn’t mind being picked up and she struggles when placed in a carrier. Her owner describes her as friendly, affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Moretta was lying down at the back of the kennel with her tail curled up at her side. Reaction when softly spoken to: Moretta keeps her eyes focused on the assessor and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Moretta remains motionless Reaction to touch: Moretta seems hesitant of contact and leans away when the assessor extends his hand out. She sniffs the assessor’s hand, slowly leans in for rubs on her cheek and appreciates attention. Her tail slowly rises up as she becomes more comfortable, she gives soft head butts but still seems wary of her surroundings and tends to freeze and focus on the environment. Reaction to being picked up: Moretta was a bit tense when picked up, remains calm and allows all handling. Behavior Determination: Experience Moretta may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
