History : Stray, unable to use HLs
Subjective: QAR. Friendly allows for all med handling and examination. Able to prop himself up on both front legs, while dragging both back legs. Vocalizing throughout exam.

BCS 4/9
MM light pink, moist. Normal skin turgor.
EENT: OU mild mucoid discharge along medial canthi. Ears clear. Dried black discharge on nares.
Oral Exam: no ulcers, lesions. Soft palate intact.
PLN: popliteal LNs enlarged bilaterally, symmetrical, nonpainful
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2. Fair and synchronous femoral pulses. Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated. Small to mod sized bladder, nonpainful, good bladder tone.
U/G: MI, 2 testicles
MSI: Ambulatory x 2. Bilat HL paralysis, weak withdrawals bilaterally, p allows for full ROM of both HLs, possible discomfort on extension of right hip, no overt fractures palpated, no reaction on palpation of HLs or spine, HL paws feel warm. Skin free of parasites, no masses noted, dirty unkempt hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: normal externally. Good anal tone.
Assessment: 3m MI DSH
paraplegia — r/o trauma vs embolism vs degenerative myelopathy vs other
lymphadenopathy — r/o reactive vs infection/inflamm
Prognosis: guarded
Plan:
– Monitor in medical. Ensure p is comfortable and urinating on his own. Express bladder if needed.
– Simbadol 0.24mg/kg SQ SID x 5 days
– Onsior 2mg/kg SQ SID x 3 days
– Tomorrow 2/25 – Rads 2 view CXR, 2 view pelvis and HLs, and spine. Unable to do today due to short staff and late in the day.
– Vet check tomorrow. Assess rads, comfort, and if any improvement with HLs, if none, consider humane euthanasia.
