SAFE 7/2/18 MONARCH is a 12 year old kitty who was brought in the shelter with a wound on the right side of his face that had a maggot infestation. He was lethargic and dehydrated. Monarch needs some further medical eval and a home where he can get lots of TLC and follow up care. Can you help him today?

EENT: OD blepharospasm secondary to moist dermatitis, Eyes – euphoria, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted
Oral Exam: Staining and peridontal recession
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Neutered male
MSI: Infected superficial pyoderma on right cheek with maggot infestation
Flea dirt, bilateral diffuse alopecia on palmar and medial aspect of hindlegs, hair unkempt, Ambulatory x 4,
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal:
Assessment
1) Pyoderma on right side of face with secondary Myiasis. Moister dermatitis on skin around eyes
2) Flea dirt
3) Poor BCS
4) Lethargy
5) Dehydration
Prognosis: Fair
Plan:
1) Already given capstar tx
2) Sedate (0.1 ml dexmeditomidine + 0.1 ml Butorphanol IM) and clean/clip wound.
3) Give single tx of Convenia SX 0.1ml/kg
4) IVF fluids 10ml/hr for 24hrs
