09/30/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
9/30/16 18:31 Basic information: Momo is a 1 yr. old male domestic short hair mix. The owner surrendered Momo because she is moving to a place that does not allow pets. Momo has no health problems and the owner has not taken him to a vet. Socialization: The owner states that around strangers Momo is shy and prefers not to interact with them. Momo has never lived with children. Momo has never been around other cats so the owner has no idea how Momo would behave around them. Momo has never bitten or scratched anyone. Behavior: Momo has never been bathed, had his nails trimmed. He does not mind having his coat brushed but hates being picked up and being placed in a cat carrier (he will struggle with the person). For a new family to know: The owner describes as Momo shy cat with a medium activity level. Momo has played with rubber ball and string cat toys; he lives mostly indoors and sleeps anywhere in the house that he wants. In the home Pickles will follow the owner around and prefers to stay in same room as the owner. Momo eats meow mix brand dry cat food and is open feed. He is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Momo has never been given a scratching post so the owner does not know if he will use it or not. Behavior during intake: During intake Momo was very tense with stiff body, he allowed us to scan (-), photographed and placed in cat kennel. However after placing in the kennel Momo began to growl and hiss at the handler and would not allow to be collared.

10/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Momo’s previous owner reports he is shy around strangers and prefers not to interact with them. He has never been around children or other cats, so his behavior around them is unknown. He does not mind having his coat brushed, but hates being picked up and placed in a carrier and will struggle with the person. He was described as a shy cat with a medium activity level. He plays with a rubber ball and strings, following the owner around and prefers to stay in the same room as the owner. Reaction to assessor: Momo was by the front, wide-eyed and looking around at his surroundings. Reaction when softly spoken to: Momo looks at the assessor and sniffs around, but will lean against the cage door and rubs his cheeks against it. Reaction to cage door opening: Momo becomes alert and retreats to the back. Reaction to touch: Momo was hesitant of contact, but inches forward to sniff the assessor’s hand. He shifts away whenever the assessor attempts to touch him and will hiss, but when kept still he would rub against the assessor. He appears to be interested in interacting, stress meowing and leaning on the assessor, but may be unsure and will hiss each time the assessor initiates contact. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Mom tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
