ENRICHMENT NOTES:
03/22/18
Lying in litterbox with a low, tense body, eyes wide. She tolerates petting along her head and body while wrapping her tail around her feet and licking her lips. Turns head to watch my hand. Nervous, needs more time to adjust.
03/25/18
Crouched on top of kuranda bed, body tense. She tolerates petting along her head and body while remaining very still and tilting her ears. Does not respond to treats – may be too nervous and focused on me and environment. Timid and unsure, needs time to adjust.
03/26/18
Crouched on top of kuranda bed, body slightly tense and tail curled around feet. She tolerates petting along her head and body while remaining very still. Ears are forward and she maintains eye contact. Unsure. She turns to sniff the treats I place down next to her but doesn’t eat them during our interaction.
03/27/18
Crouched on top of kuranda bed, ears forward and tail curled around feet. She makes eye contact as I open the kennel door and vocalizes softly. Remains calm as I reach towards her and allows petting along her head and body while leaning in gently with her head. Sweet and calm, enjoys cheek and head rubs for the duration of today’s session. Seems less stressed today, moving around and exploring and vocalizing when spoken to. May be beginning to warm up.
03/28/18
Lying in back of kennel, body relaxed. She raises her head as the kennel door opens and makes eye contact with soft eyes. She allows petting along her head and body while leaning in and lowering her head to the ground to rub her cheeks on her blanket. Turns head to head-butt my hand. Sweet and calm, much more relaxed today than previous sessions. Allows all petting and remains in the back of her kennel where she feels the most comfortable. Did well today.
03/29/18
Lying on top of kuranda bed, body relaxed and ears forward. Eyes are alert and she makes eye contact when spoken to. She allows petting along her head and body after I’ve opened the kennel door, leaning in gently and lowering her head to the kuranda bed floor. Sweet and calm, allows and accepts all petting for duration of session. Body remains soft and relaxed. Doing better!
04/11/18
Crouched in front of kennel as I approach, ears forward and face soft. Begins to scent mark kennel floor when spoken to. She remains calm as the kennel door opens and allows petting along her head and body while leaning in and beginning to purr. Very sweet senior lady – doing well after first day!

Mochi was calm, relaxed and didn’t mind being picked up.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:
Moderate
VOCAL:
Somewhat chatty
CHARACTER TYPE:
Sweet

Easy going
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Inappropriate elimination
Potential challenges comments:
Mochi’s previous owners report that she was eliminating (urinating and defecating) outside the litter box for the past 2 weeks. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment.
