Mittens came to the shelter surrendered by an owner with a limited profile. Reaction to assessor: Mittens is lying in the back of her den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mittens remains motionless. Reaction to cage door opening: Mittens remains motionless, eyes wide. Reaction to touch: Mittens remains stiff, tolerates petting, ears flatten a bit. Placement Determination: Experience Mittens does not approach the assessor or solicit petting, but tolerates handling. Mittens is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents. Please note that Mittens is being treated for an upper-respiratory infection at the time of the assessment, and this may affect the behaviors shown.
