Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Missy Kitty is shy and fearful when strangers come over and can take up to a few days to warm up to them. She is litter box trained and struggles when picked up or held. Reaction to assessor: Missy Kitty was pressed up against the back wall of the kennel with her body curled up. Reaction when softly spoken to: Missy Kitty keeps her tail at her side, makes eye contact and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Missy Kitty remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Missy Kitty lip licks with wide eyes focused on the assessor’s movements. She appears hesitant when the assessor extends his hand forward and slowly lowered her head. Her body feels tense, she tolerates petting with a slow, gentle approach and slowly turns her head away when she’s had enough. Reaction to being picked up: Missy Kitty was tense when picked up, curls up tight and looks around, wary of her surroundings. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Missy Kitty tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
