06/25/17 09:32 Missy is a spayed calico that was given to the owner by a former housemate. He has had her for around 4 months and is surrendering due to person issues and having no time. She has no injuries or health problems that the owner is aware of. Around strangers, she tends to be shy for a few minutes and warms up to company. Owner states Missy gravitates to people who understand cats and is friendly to them. She has lived with the owner’s 5 year old son and they love to play chase around the house. She plays gently with children and the owner has not played with her. She has not lived with other cats or dogs. Missy has not bitten a person or animal. Missy was scratching couches and walls but the owner states he never gave her a scratching post or pad. She has no litterbox issues. She was vocal in the car ride. The owner has not given her a bath, trimmed her nails, or brushed her out. She likes to be held. Missy is described as a friendly and outgoing cat with a medium activity level. She loves lounging and chasing after the 5 year old. She was not given any toys to play with. She was kept indoors only and prefers wet food over dry food. She is litterboxed trained and was given an uncovered box with clay litter. She was not given a scratching post or pad and scratched up furniture and walls.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults and 5 yr. old child Behavior toward strangers: Shy for a few minutes then warms up Behavior toward children: Relaxed and plays gently Behavior toward cats: Unknown Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly and outgoing with a medium activity level Other notes: She was not given a scratching post and would scratch on the furniture and walls. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Got very aggressive when she saw other cats. Allowed full exam with vocalizing and hissing, but struck out when attempted to give vaccines ENRICHMENT NOTES: 06/27/17 Hisses randomly, seems upset by cats across from her, focusing on them – but is super sweet when spoken to and will come forward to solicit attention. Accepts petting and enjoys attention, but will grumble occasionally and focus on kitten across the room. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Missy meows loudly then comes forward towards the assessor with a relaxed body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Missy continues meowing, reaches out gently and rubs her entire body against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Missy is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Missy is very vocal and allows petting all over her body. She nudges the assessor’s hand; gives soft head butts and appreciates attention. During the interaction she would occasionally look around and focus on some of the other cats in the room. She hisses and becomes upset when she sees them but is easily distracted and diverts her attention back to the assessor. Reaction to being picked up: Missy was a little tense, whined to be put down and tried to wiggle out of the assessor’s arms. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Talkative CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Affectionate, Social RECOMMENDATIONS: No other cats OR multi-cat home with adopters experienced with introducing new cats – Missy remains social and easy to handle with her human caretakers, but please be aware that Missy may be uncomfortable around other cats. She has been noted to hiss and display distance increasing behaviors whenever she notices a neighboring cat. Due to the described behaviors, we recommend Missy goes to a home with no other cats OR into a multi-cat home with cat parents experienced with introducing new cats slowly and gradually over a long period of time.
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Missy interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
