Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owners, Mishu is shy around strangers for a few minutes then warms up. She has lived with children, from newborns up to children 6 years old, and was relaxed and affectionate with them. Mishu plays gently with adults and children and has never spent time with cats or dogs. She’s never had litter box accidents and doesn’t mind being picked up or held. Her owner describes her as being affectionate and mellow with a low activity level. She uses a scratching post made of carpet and likes to follow her owners around the house. Reaction to assessor: Mishu was curled up with her tail at her side at the front of the cubby. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mishu’s ears bend flat and she hisses at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Mishu remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Mishu arches her back, hisses then swats when you approach her. Her ears bend flat, she continues to low growl and she currently doesn’t allow any contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Mishu is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
