SAFE 7/16/18 -Meet Miracle! This little kitten is hoping to find the best forever home out there @MACC. MIRACLE is a 7 week old kitten who was found and taken to a vet for diarrhea. He was then surrendered to the shelter and needs a foster home til he can be adopted.

History : In foster care, crusty lesions on face noted. Also still having diarrhea with hematochezia. Previously parvo snap negative.
S/O: BARH, active, allows all handling
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted, crusted and alopecic lesions at dorsal nose, along max/mand lips, and ventral chin – all fluoresce under woods lamp
Oral Exam: Deciduous
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Female
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, healthy hair coat, BCS 5/9
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment:
Persistent diarrhea with hematochezia – ro dietary vs parasitism vs other
Crusty, alopecic lesions – ro ringworm vs other
Plan:
Routine dewormers (pyrantel, ponazuril)
Additional 2 days of ponazuril SID
Recommend fecal test
DTM culture
Start itrafungol 5 mg/kg P SID x 3 weeks

History: Stray – client found kitten on Sunday and took to vet for diarrhea on 6/27. A fecal was performed (no test results reported). The kitten was given fluids, Nemex, Revolution, and Metronidazole per invoice from Lefferts Animal Hospital
Subjective: Kitten is Q/BARH, eating on own. There are multiple piles of fecal score 5-6 in litter box
Observed Behavior – immediately social, allows all handling

ABD: Non painful, doughy
U/G: female
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: not peformed
Assessment: Weaned kitten>4wks; Diarrhea
Prognosis:
Good
Plan: Parvo-Neg. Seek foster or NH placement. Recommend sticking with one type of kitten food (or ideally i/d or Royal Canin GI HE). Recommend Fortiflora – 1/2 pkt once daily. Start Metronidazole 100mg/ml – 0.1mls PO q12h x 7-10d.
