I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 01/23/2017 from NY 10003, owner surrender reason stated was PET HEALTH.

01/23/17 11:00 Basic information mino is a 2 year old brown tabby. He is an unaltered male. Owner has had him for one year. Owner is surrendering due to pets health. Owner has taken him to the vet for being lethargic and eating on and off. The last time he saw a vet was november of 2016. Socialization Around strangers he is friendly and likes to be pet by them. He has not lived with any young children. he plays gentle with adults. He has not lived with any other cats or dogs. He has scratched a person but did not break skin, a 14 year old child was tugging on his ears.There is no bite history of a animal. behavior Owner stated that there are no behavior issues concern. He has only been on public transportation and was relaxed throughout the ride. there are no litterbox accidents. client stated he struggles to get out of the bath tub. He struggles for nail trim. He isnt bothered with brushing of coat or picking up and holding him. He isnt bothered with putting in the carrier. For the new family to know Owner described him as friendly, affectionate, playful, and quiet. His activity level is medium. When owner is home he follows you around. He likes to play with wand toys and was kept mostly indoors. He had his own bed where he slept on. He ate both wet and dry food. His favorite treats are temptations and boiled chicken. he used a uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. he had a scratching post made out of carpet that he scratched on. behavior upon intake Mino was receptive to all handling including picking up, collaring, scanning, and intake photo

EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Minou was lying down and remains calm, relaxed, and friendly. Reaction when softly spoken to: Minou looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Minou remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Minou presses his head against the assessor’s hand and leans in for rubs. He begins to purr and seems to appreciate attention. Reaction to being picked up: Minou remains soft and looks around the environment when held. ENRICHMENT NOTES: Resting calmly on bedding, soft body and eyes. Hx: Previous owner reports multiple episodes of pale gums and weakness, and then recovery. Pt went to vet and was treated with Cerenia injection but no diagnostic testing was done. S: Alert, allows handing, passive, lies down for exam O: BAR, decreased skin turgor, estimated 5-8% dehydrated. BCS 3/9, MMs pink. EENT: No discharge OU, AU, nose. Mild tartar and gingivitis. PLNs: Not enlarged. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted. UG: Male intact, testicles soft and symmetrical. A: 1. Hx of episodic unknown illness 2. Underweight 3. 1/25/17 Hx: Anemic, cause unknown. FIV positive. S: Calm, allows all handling O: BAR-H, MMs pale pink EENT: No discharge OU, AU, nose. Clean teeth. PLNs: Not enlarged. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted. UG: Male intact, testicles soft and symmetrical. Full bladder. Small amount of stool on glove after palpating scrotum – enough for parvo test but not enough for fecal float. Parvo test: negative A: FIV, anemic Short-term prognosis: Fair Current surgery status: Temporary waiver due to anemia. P: Seek placement, blood smear evaluation by clinical pathologist. Fecal float in-house.
