09/16/17 15:54 Basic Information Minerva is a four year old, torti and white colored, female cat that was surrendered by owner for health reasons. Owner got her from a friend as a kitten and had her for four years. Minerva had no known signs of illness of injuries. Socialization Minerva is friendly and outgoing around strangers. She lived and spent time at home with children ages four and seven and was relaxed and respectful around them. Minerva really does not play with either adults or children and did not live or spend time with other animals. And she never bit a human or another animal. Behavior Minerva would often scratch on furniture and meows when riding in a car and does not have litter box problems. She was generally self-grooming and isn’t bothered if disturbed while sleeping or resting. For a New Family to Know Minerva is a friendly and independent cat with medium activity level. She follows you around when at home, played with balls and chasing toys and was kept mostly indoors. She was fed dry cat food three times daily. She is house trained and used a hooded cat litter box and clumping cat litter. Behavior during Intake Minerva had a very relaxed body, meowed a little but allowed counselor pet and pick her up. And, she allowed all handling

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Bold, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults and children ages four and seven Behavior toward strangers: friendly and outgoing Behavior toward children: relaxed and respectful Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: Minerva is a friendly and independent cat with medium activity level. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/17/17- Subjective: Yowls and hisses, briefly examined in net EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Minerva was tense, hiding in the cat den during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Minerva remains in place, alert with eyes wide open and pupils dilated. Reaction to cage door opening: Minerva hisses, growls, and stress meows. Reaction to touch: Minerva avoids contact, but seems curious and slowly sniffs the assessor’s hand. She began to increase distance then hisses and swats to stop the interaction. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Minerva is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
