SAFE 3/16/18 — A staff member writes: Mina is an adorable little tuxedo kitty with a heart of gold. His favorite pastime is curling up and snuggling under a blanket. He’s not interested in bouncing around and playing all day, he’s likes to kick back and relax on the couch. Mina’s the perfect cuddle buddy for those late nights binge watching your favorite TV shows. He needs an experienced touch and would do best in a nice, quiet home without children to bother him.
Mina”22169″ is a black and white DSH cat who was surrendered due to his previous owner having medical issues that did not allow her to care for her. The owner stated that Mina is the last of 4 other cats she needed to surrender. The client didn’t know much about the ages or sex’s.

Mina keeps his tail wrapped around his body and watches the assessor with wide dilated eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Mina remains tense and motionless.
Reaction to touch:
Mina shrinks his body and lip licks when the assessor reaches forward. He closes his eyes and tolerates slow, gentle petting along his body. The end of his tail flickers and he shifts away when he’s had enough contact.

Laid back
VOCAL:
Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE:
Timid
Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Fearful
Potential challenges comments:
Mina has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:
Experienced, adult only
Behavior Asilomar
TM – Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:
None
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:
Mina tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
