06/21/17 15:39 Basic Information: Michael is a domestic short hair cat who was surrendered along with house mates Cookie and Luke due to their previous owner moving to a place where animals are not allowed and unable to find them a new home. Socialization: Around strangers Michael is shy for a few minutes and plays gently/exuberantly with adults and children. Michael lived with children ages 6 through 13 years of age; around them Michael was relaxed and affectionate. Michael has lived with two other cats that she was relaxed and affectionate around. Michael has never lived with dogs so it is unknown how Michael would react to being around them. Behavior: Michael has never bitten/scratched another person/animal and has not shown any concerning behaviors while at home. Michael has never been in a car so it is unknown how she will react to that event Michael is fearful of being given a bath. Michael isn’t bothered by getting her nails trimmed, being picked up/held, placed in a carrier or disturbed while resting/sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Michael is described as mellow, confident, shy and quiet with a low to medium activity level. When at home Michael will follow around his owner and likes to play with string. Michael was kept indoors only and was fed dry food. Michael is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Michael was not given a scratching post so it is unknown how he will react to one. Intake Behavior: Michael was a bit timid during intake but warmed up to staff after some time. During intake Michael allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.

ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/22/17- Resting in litter box on approach, soft eye and body. Lay in place when door opened, sniffed assess-a-hand, then leaned into pets and rolled all the way over. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Michael immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Michael remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Michael head-butts the assessor’s hand, rolls over, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Michael interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
