Hello, my name is Mia. My animal id is #10050. I am a female brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 months 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 18-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal behaviour – too active.
Mia is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection. She will require in home care with antibiotics. She has no known behavior concerns at this time (Average determination).

Pt noted to be coughing/sneezing with runny eyes yesterday. This morning pt has mild serous nasal discharge. Okay to move to isolation and start doxycycline 0.7 ml PO SID x10 days. 1088

Upon intake, Mia had eyes dilated. she allowed counselor to collar inside carrier. She allowed counselor to pick her up but was being hesitant in coming out. she did show signs of aggresion. She sat still for pictures and walked into the carrier on her own.

Basic Information:: Mia is a young small female unaltered cat. She has been with the owner for 6 months. Owner is surrendering due to her being too active in the home. There are no injuries or health concerns owner is aware about.
Previously lived with:: Owner, sibling cat, and small dog
How is this cat around strangers?: mia is comfortable with family who come over. When a new person comes over she will hide away.
How is this cat around children?: she has not been around children so behavior is unknown.
How is this cat around other cats?: she lived with her sibling cat. She was respectful and very playful with him. She played in a exuberant way.
How is this cat around dogs?: she also lived with a small breed dog and was respectful of him.
Behavior Notes: there are no behavior concerns owner is aware about.
Bite history:: There is no bite history with a human or animal.

For a New Family to Know: owner has not tried bathing or trimming her nails. She isnt bothered with picking up and holding or being placed in a carrier. She plays with all toys.. She eats both wet and dry food mixed together. She used a uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. She has a scratching post she uses.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Subjective: sweet, docile
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/19/17 Resting in litter box, eyes dilated, seemed wary. Started breathing faster on approach. Flinched and lowered head when door opened. Sniffed assess-a-hand, tolerated pets, started lip licking. Sprayed feliway.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Mia remains tense, crouched position in her litter box during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Mia seems interested with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Mia remains immobile, ears erect and froward.
Reaction to touch:: Mia is hesitant at first, slowly warms up after the touch then engages with tail up and purrs. However, while appreciating the petting she remains cautious with sudden noises and slowly retreats.
Reaction to being picked up:: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
