08/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mexico was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Mexico was hiding underneath behind his bogus paper trying to avoid eye contact. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mexico hisses, bends his ears flat and lowers his body. Reaction to cage door opening: Mexico continues to hiss and flinches when the door opens. Reaction to touch: Mexico hisses and low growls as you approach him. He tolerates petting briefly then whips around and tries to bite. He shifts away and allows no more contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Mexico is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to bite, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
