SAFE 10/31/17 **8-Week Old Kitten MERCY at BACC!**

Mercy 10967, 8 Weeks Old, Gray and White Tabby DSH, Female, 1 lb 12.8 oz, Stray 10/27/17

Enrichment:

10/29/17

Lying in back of kennel with a low, tense body. She tolerates petting initially while lowering her body and flattening her ears. I hold her in a blanket and she begins to purr. Leans in for petting when placed back into her kennel and continues to purr. Vocalizing after interaction has ended. Unsure – needs some time to adjust. Has potential to warm up. Sprayed feliway.

 

Medical:

10/28/17:

DVM Intake Exam
Estimated age: 8 weeks
Microchip noted on Intake? negative
History : stray LVT intake 10/27-was dehydrated and dirty. Was reported to have possibly been in the mouth of a dog by the finder. Given SQ LRS (20ml), pyrantel, and simbadol on LVT intake.
Subjective: BARH. No c/s/v/d. Good appetite. Hiding in the feral den.
Observed Behavior – Was nervous and tense in the feral den but easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures
Evidence of Cruelty seen – no
Evidence of Trauma seen – no
Objective
P = wnl
R = eupneic
BCS 5/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears have moderate brown crusty debris, no nasal discharge noted
Oral Exam: kitten dentition, no oral lesions noted
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: FI, no MGTs, no vulvar d/c
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, SQ emphysema (likely from SQ fluids given last night)
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment: Underage
Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC
Not a candidate for community cat release-underage
Clean ears
Ivermectin 0.03ml SQ once
Prognosis: Excellent
SURGERY: temporary waiver due to underage

 

10/27/17:

Clear eyes and nose
Ambulatory
Female
Coat in good condition
Dehydrated
MM – pink
scan negative for microchip
Called on call DVM regarding dehydration. Advised to give 20ml LRS sq, simbadol 0.05ml sq, dewormer.
Also, feed, water, and request DVM exam for 10/28/2017

Mercy is a small kitten that came to the center as a stray.

Behavior Notes:

During intake, Mercy did not allow handling without hissing and swatting.
