***GONE 07/10/16***PERFECTLY HEALTHY MERCURY DOESN’T WANT THE ACC TECHS POKING AT HIM AND FOR THIS HE WILL BE KILLED! Just one look at MERCURY’s face will tell you he just wants to be out of this place! No info is given as to whether he was brought into the shelter in a trap or just dumped but someone certainly was able to bring him in and deposit this poor orange creamsicle boy in a place where no cat should ever end up! MERCURY is afraid and just huddles in his cage but despite being healthy, he will die. MERCURY may be someone’s pet who is just scared out of his wits and needs out now where he can decompress and learn that not everyone wants to hurt him. PLEASE BE MERCURY’S HERO TONIGHT. THERE ARE COUNTLESS STORIES OF SCARED KITTIES DOING A COMPLETE TURNAROUND ONCE IN A LOVING HOME. GIVE MERCURY THAT CHANCE. CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO SAVE HIS LIFE!

07/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mercury was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Mercury was curled up in the litter box at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mercury hisses and low growls with his head buried in the litter box. Reaction to cage door opening: Mercury flinches and turns away avoiding contact. Reaction to touch: Mercury rises up with flat ears, hisses, swats and bites when near. He shifts away and allows no contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Mercury is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, scratch, bite, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
