***GONE 05/31/16*** HOW DID A CAT LIKE MELINDA END UP AT THE ACC?? MELINDA was friendly with the finder and the finder’s cat and it looks like the finder was able to transport MELINDA with no problem to the ACC…..So why does this friendly cat have a NEW HOPE rating??? Inquiring minds want to know. MELINDA is only a year old and most likely a lost or abandoned cat. No reason for her to be on death row. All she needs is Time and TLC and she will blossom like a flower in the spring. DON’T LET THE ACC CUT HER DOWN LIKE A WEED……PLEASE CONTACT A NEW HOPE RESCUE & APPLY TO FOSTER or ADOPT before NOON TOMORROW!! If you need assistance, email [email protected]

05/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Melinda was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Melinda’s finder states that she found her near her home and that she was friendly. She kept her in the home for a few days and stated she got along well with her male cat and was using the litter box. Reaction to assessor: Melinda was resting in her litter box outside the feral den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Melinda has wide eyes focused on all movements and doesn’t come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Melinda remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Melinda lip licks and becomes focused on my hand when pet. She tolerates petting briefly before backing away, arching her back and hissing. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Melinda is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
