Ears pointed forward, alert. Moves back when the door opens and seems a bit hesitant. Focuses on my hand and squints when touched on his head. Not comfortable being touched along his body, grumbles then shifts away to the other side of his double kennel. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Mazzy is curious and was sitting at the front of the kennel. He’s unsure at first but eventually leans forward to sniff and accepts petting on his head with a slow approach. Mazzy closes his eyes when rubbed on his head and cheeks then starts grumbling when touched along his back. It appears he isn’t comfortable with full body attention and vocalizes to let the assessor know he’s had enough. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Independent, Curious
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Experienced, adult home only – Mazzy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. He may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his new home and family at his own pace.
