11/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Max isn’t bothered by strangers and allows them to pet him. He lived with children and was tolerant of them and allowed all handling. He responds to the command “roll over” and he will roll on his back. His owner describes him as a friendly, playful and affectionate cat with a high to medium activity level. Max enjoys playing with stuffed toys& also enjoys balls with bells. Reaction to assessor: Max was lying down near the back of the kennel and slowly lifted his head up to make eye contact when the assessor approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: Max keeps his eyes focused on the assessor, seems wary of his environment and doesn’t come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Max lip licks and becomes alert. Reaction to touch: Max appears hesitant of contact and closed his eyes when touched on his head. After a couple soft passes he warms up and leans in slightly when rubbed on his cheeks. His body remains lowered but he slowly inches to the front while giving soft head butts. At the front he looks around, taking in his surroundings and feels more comfortable when touched along his body. Reaction to being picked up: Max was a bit tense when picked up, looks around at his surroundings then leaps back into the kennel. Behavior Determination: Experience Max may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
